The 11th "Little Scientists" Summer Camp of Tongwei Hope Primary School was successfully held

From July 28th to August 3rd, the 11th "Little Scientists" Summer Camp of Tongwei Hope Primary School was held simultaneously in Shenzhen and Taicang. Themed "Chasing Dreams in the Era, Flying Hope", the summer camp brought together 132 teachers and students from ten Tongwei Hope Primary Schools across the country for a seven-day journey of scientific exploration. During the camp, they visited laboratories, science museums, smart manufacturing workshops, and century-old prestigious schools, broadening their horizons and enlightening their minds in a mobile classroom setting.
On the morning of July 28th, the summer camp was launched simultaneously in two locations. Leaders and guests including Long Xiaojing, Deputy General Manager of the company and Chairman of the Tongwei Charity Foundation, Fan Wenjie, Chief Risk Control and Compliance Officer of the company, Wang Jiawei, Assistant General Manager of the company, Chen Kai, Vice Chairman of the Tongwei Charity Foundation, He Liang, Director of the Zhitong Factory, Wang Hong, Director of the Zhishuan Factory, and Chen Zhongqiang, Director of the Automotive Electronics Factory, attended the event. He Liang, Director of the Zhitong Factory, delivered a welcome speech at the Shenzhen camp. Gao Yunyang, who graduated from the Tongwei Hope Primary School in Hezheng, Gansu Province and is currently studying at the Central University of Finance and Economics, spoke as a volunteer representative. Wang Hong, Director of the Zhishuan Factory, delivered a welcome speech at the Taicang camp. Gao Tian, a volunteer representative who was a camper in the Taicang camp in 2013 and is now an intern teacher at his alma mater, interpreted the relay and inheritance of charitable work through his personal experience. Long Xiaojing encouraged the children to cherish the opportunity for research and study and experience the charm of technology.
Over the next seven days, campers from both locations embarked on enriching and diverse research and study itineraries. The children in the Shenzhen camp visited the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) laboratory to explore the mysteries of technology, and experienced the charm of technology in the three exhibition halls of "Cosmic Origins", "Beautiful Life", and "Smart Industry" at the Shenzhen Guangming Science and Technology Museum. They also went to the Hanrui AI Industry-Academia-Research Base Experience Hall and Global Digital to explore AI technology and 3D film production. They visited Shiyan Longtian School in Bao'an District to carry out patriotic education and scientific exploration, drawing pictures and exchanging gifts with Shenzhen students. The children in the Taicang camp visited Yunmu Zhizao to closely observe high-fidelity humanoid robots, explored the marine world at Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, felt the essence of a century-old prestigious school at the Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, appreciated the spirit of scientists at the Qian Xuesen Library, and visited the Taicang Aerospace Museum, Loujiang New City Exhibition Center, and Taicang Science and Technology Museum. Campers from both locations also experienced fun English games and learned scientific practical courses such as Miura folding and the principle of light refraction. On the evening of August 1st, company leaders Wang Jianxiang, Cheng Shuxin, Long Xiaojing, He Yimeng, Wang Jiawei, and Cheng Zejun made a special trip to visit the teachers and students of the Taicang camp, presenting each child with a science book.
On August 3rd, the summer camp closed simultaneously in both locations. Company leaders Long Xiaojing, Wu Di, Gong Pusheng, Wang Jiawei, Cheng Zejun, Zhang Chuanxi, Gou Zeshun, Hu Xiaogang, Zhu Biwei, Wang Liangjie, Xu Menghua, as well as representatives of the foundation's board members and volunteer teachers, attended the event. Teachers and students reviewed the wonderful moments of the seven-day study tour through a summary video. Tao Ruina, the head teacher of the Shenzhen camp, Fang Yuxuan, the deputy head teacher of the Taicang camp, teacher representatives Zhou Yuanlin and Xie Jiayu, volunteer representatives Zhang Hengkui and Zou Tong, and student representatives Wu Siying and Zhao Yaki shared their harvest and insights from the past seven days. Student representatives from both locations took the stage to showcase their learning achievements, such as satellite models and copper-zinc primary batteries that they had assembled themselves.
In her speech, Long Xiaojing expressed that it was heartwarming to see the children's transformation from shyness when they first arrived to confidence when they shared on stage. She extended her gratitude to all the staff and teachers and encouraged the children to thank themselves for bravely trying. She advised the students to establish a correct worldview, outlook on life, and values, and to become useful individuals to society.
 
At the closing ceremony, over 50 campers from both regions were awarded five prizes, including "Little Commander", "Practical Expert", "Innovative Guru", "Collaborative Star", and "Scientific Doctor". Additionally, 29 volunteers were presented with honorary certificates. During the "Future Science Mission Card" segment, distinguished guests wrote handwritten greeting cards for the campers. Following this, the captivating cultural performance "Mountains and Seas Connected, Hearts and Hands Linked" took place. Campers from both regions, along with newcomers in orange, showcased performances such as the dance "White Moon, White Sister", the chorus "The Firstborn", the dance "The Sound of Strings", and the scene recitation "Childhood in Ancient Poems". The entire performance bridged mountains and seas, connecting both regions, and fully exhibited the confident and sunny spirit of the children. After the performance, a collective birthday party was held for children who celebrated their birthdays in July and August from both regions.
The "Little Scientists" summer camp organized by Tongwei Charity Foundation has been held for eleven consecutive years, bringing thousands of teachers and students from the mountains to Shenzhen and Taicang, igniting their dreams amidst the light of science and technology. Session after session, the summer camp has built a bridge of love between mountains and seas, allowing the seeds of hope to take root and sprout in the hearts of more children.
