On January 16th, the Shenzhen Tongwei Charity Foundation conducted an educational assistance research trip to Wanyuan City, Sichuan Province. They held a symposium with representatives from the Wanyuan Municipal People's Government, the Working Committee on Family and Youth Affairs, the Education Bureau, and relevant schools, where they discussed in depth the sustainable development path of rural education in the new era. The foundation decided to donate 1.3 million yuan to support the development of Jiuyuan Town Primary School in Wanyuan City, and renamed it "Wanyuan Jiuyuan Town Tongwei Hope Primary School". This marks a crucial step for the foundation in its educational assistance in Wanyuan, moving from "basic assistance" to "quality improvement".
Since the establishment of the Tongwei Hope Primary School in Fengtong Township, Wanyuan City, in 2011, the foundation has continuously paid attention to the local education development. With the acceleration of urbanization, the number of students in schools in Fengtong Township has gradually decreased in recent years. In order to consolidate the educational assistance friendship with Wanyuan City for more than ten years and further promote the optimal allocation of educational resources, the foundation, after extensive investigation and research, finally selected the primary school in Jiuyuan Town as the new round of assistance target, continuing and deepening its public welfare investment in the local area.
The foundation team conducted an in-depth investigation into the teaching facilities, faculty, and informatization construction at Jiuyuan Town Primary School. Based on the investigation results, the foundation decided to donate 1.3 million yuan to improve the school's teaching facilities and enhance its educational capabilities. After consultation with relevant education departments, it was determined that the name of Jiuyuan Town Primary School in Wanyuan City would be changed to "Jiuyuan Town Tongwei Hope Primary School". While inspecting Jiuyuan Town Primary School, the foundation team also visited Tongwei Hope Primary School in Fengtong Township, Wanyuan, to visit 39 left-behind children at the school.
Wang Dawei, a board member of the foundation, stated at the symposium that in recent years, the Tongwei Charity Foundation has continuously paid attention to and invested in the field of rural education development. Tongwei Charity is an important part of the Gongjin corporate culture, and it has assisted in the construction of 10 Hope Primary Schools to date. The foundation not only focuses on improving hardware facilities from the issue of availability to quality and adaptability, but also places emphasis on software investment, focusing on empowering people and activating resources. The first batch of 1.3 million yuan in donations will be used for education and teaching, with a focus on supporting schools to connect with educational resources in places such as Shenzhen and Shanghai, gradually bridging the gap between urban and rural education and enhancing teaching concepts. He emphasized that in the era of AI, education should focus on inspiring thinking and cultivating innovation ability. He hoped that through the simultaneous improvement of hardware and software, and the mutual nourishment of ideas and resources, the recipient schools would enable rural children not only to "have access to education", but also to "receive quality education", and enjoy fair and high-quality education.
